Drive-by posting courtesy of a much needed oil change and some last minute Christmas shopping. Yesterday, the snow hit hard and fast . . . hence a snow day (my third of the year). So, since I bought all the ingredients for the cookies and such the day before, the girls and I started making cookies. My sole responsibility was the buckeyes. If you aren't from Ohio, you might call them peanut butter balls . . . we just call them good. I whipped up the batch, looked at them, thought they looked a bit odd, but set them out to dry nonetheless. Thirty minutes later, I started to dip them in chocolate and was immediately pissed at the results. They had turned out so nice last year and now they were just plain icky. Still, I "dipped" them all, sent a picture message to the family about the worst buckeyes ever and set them aside. About three hours later, I went back to them and they were still mushy. Then - and only then - did I look at the recipe. It was an honest mistake.
I read the recipe as this: 1/2 cup butter, 3 T. peanut butter, 1 cup confectioner's sugar . . . but it really said: 1/2 cup peanut butter, 3 T. butter, 1 cup confectioner's sugar. So, basically, I made peanut butter flavored butter. Add this to the 5/8 inch angel food cake and the disaterous hummus t/T error.
I'm going shopping but Lola's contest is running out today.

PS - Veronica's socks are done - blocking on the kitchen counter. Down to Betty's second sock . . . wish me luck.
I know you can finish that second sock of the second pair. In sock madness, a competitive sock knitting event, knitters are turning out an unfamiliar pattern in 14 hours. You have one sock to do of a familiar pattern. Can you find the 7 - 10 hours to finish that between now and Christmas. I'm betting yes. Merry Christmas Lola and Ava

You made me laugh--that is totally a mistake I might make. Are they at least edible? Maybe you have created the latest cookie craze.
